Characteristics: The sapwood is pale yellow to yellowish white in colour, the heartwood is yellow with darker streaks when first cut, becoming lustrous golden brown after seasoning and exposure. The grain is medium to moderately coarse and usually interlocked. The timber is hard and heavy and weighs about 800 Kg / m3 when dried. It is a durable wood.

 

Working Qualities: Easy to work and takes a high lustrous finish. It lends itself well to natural bends for boat building.

 

Uses: Heavy construction, both civil and marine. Furniture, cabinets, decking and framing in boat building.
