Characteristics: There is no difference in colour between the sapwood and the heartwood, varying from almost white to pale yellowish-brown and has a straight grain and a rather fine texture.  The weight of the wood is about 470 kg/m3 when dried.
 
Working Qualities: The timber works easily and is capable of a smooth clean finish.It takes stain, paint, varnish and glue satisfactorily and nails and screws well.
 
Uses: Balusters, Boat building: masts, Boxes and crates, Carvings, Ceiling, Decorative plywood, Decorative veneer, Domestic flooring, Flooring, Food containers, Furniture, Joinery (external), Millwork, Musical instruments , Organ pipes, Packing cases, Plywood, Poles, Wainscotting.
